The Guild

When you need someone good, ask family first.

Van der Walts run farms, workshops, practices and companies all over the world. The Guild is where family finds family: businesses run by a van der Walt on the One Tree, vouched for by relatives who have dealt with them.

Members only

Only family on the One Tree will see it. No ads, and nobody can pay to be shown first.

Vouched, not rated

No stars and no anonymous reviews. A cousin who has dealt with a business says so, by name.

Free, always

Free to list and free to use. It belongs to the family.

Do you run a business?

If you run a business, put it forward for a place in the Guild. A keeper looks at every one.

Not in business?

Take your place on the tree. Once the family has confirmed it, the Guild is open to you.

Open, and outward

Every van der Walt on the One Tree is welcome, whatever their background. In time the Guild will connect to other families' networks too, so family can do business with family right across South Africa.

The Guild house rules

  1. Only family on the One Tree can list, and only a business they run or co-own. A keeper checks every listing.
  2. Tell the truth about your business. If something is wrong, a keeper tells you why and gives you the chance to fix it. A listing is removed only if it is not fixed, or for a serious breach of these rules.
  3. Only confirmed Van der Walts see the Guild. Contact details are shown one person at a time, and every view is logged. Nothing is public, and no name is used in public unless the owner says yes in writing.
  4. Vouch only for a business you have dealt with yourself, under your own name. No stars and no anonymous reviews.
  5. If something goes wrong with a business, tell a keeper privately. There are no public complaints. The keeper hears the owner's side before anything is done.
  6. Treat family as you would want to be treated. No pressure selling, no spam, and never add Guild contacts to a mailing list.
  7. Free for family, always. No adverts, and nobody can pay to be shown first.
  8. No politics. The Guild is about business, and about helping each other get ahead.
  9. The Guild introduces family to family. Any deal is between you and them. vdw300.com does not guarantee any business.
  10. You can change or withdraw your listing at any time.
